It Was an Amazing Consultation by a Very Good Astrologer!

1969 through 1971 were difficult times in my marriage, with lots of crying. I had already completed my Masters Degrees in both Literature and Education, so when my good friend said, “Carol, you need to see an astrologer.” My response was, “That stuff is hooey. I am an academic, and I am not going to be a fortune teller! After several months with still problems in the marriage, I called AFA and asked for the phone number of an astrologer in the suburbs east of Los Angeles, California. After another few weeks, I called Elayne Manago for a consultation, and the only information I gave her was my birth date, time, and place in Columbus, Ohio – that’s all.

When I arrived at Elayne’s house for my consultation appointment, she first asked me three questions that I assumed were related to my chart in some way. Did your mother help you through something scary for a child at age 7? I replied yes, I had my tonsils out and couldn’t eat food for 2-weeks. (My MC arced 7 degrees to my Moon). The second question was about my father, “Was he gone for a while?” I replied yes, he lost his job in Columbus, and he went to California for a job that took 8 months to save enough money to fly us there and rent a house. (My MC arced 12 degrees to opposite my natal Mars in the 4th house). The third question shook me to the core! Elayne asked if I had a serious loss at age 17? With a deep breath, I said yes, my 4-month old son died a crib death. (My MC arced to conjunct Pluto partile square Saturn/South Node in the 7th).

It was not until a dozen years later, when I was well into astrology, that I realized her beginning three questions were simply Solar Arc Directions of a planet arcing to an Angle or an Angle arcing to a planet to confirm by event descriptions that my birth time was accurate. With that confirmation, she moved forward with the delineation and forecast.

Elayne had my full attention as she delineated the prominent issues in my natal chart. She confirmed that I was in a good profession for me as an art teacher in a middle school (Libra rising with the Venus ruler partile conjunct Sun as part of the Virgo stellium in the 12th house and Cancer Moon in the 10th house—the natal delineation was challenged in some areas and wonderful in others, much like most people deal with in life.

Then Elayne went to the forecast! She pointed out that my Venus by Secondary Progression was now partile conjunct my 1st house North Node, but the good news was challenged by being partile opposite my Saturn/South Node in the 7th house and square Pluto in my 10th house. We discussed marriage issues and options for nearly a half-hour. I felt good about the advice. Then Elayne talked about one specific transit, slow-moving Uranus that had been activating my Ascendant for about 2-years. She took several minutes to describe Uranus’s traits as upsetting, sudden, acting before thinking, and then the possibilities of the Ascendant reactions, making clear that the Ascendant describes the person.

I was stunned when she leaned forward, looked me straight in the eyes, and asked, “What have you done, Carol?” OMG! (2-months earlier, I had moved out of our home and got my own apartment alone, leaving our teenage children with my husband, their father.) After that consultation, I considered her description of Uranus’s extended stay across my Ascendant and that I had activated the family disruption. As a result, I did not go forward with divorce papers, nor did he. In another 6 months, we reconciled, and I moved back home with a caring partner for another 55 years until he passed.

That magic day of my only consultation with Elayne, I realized that with all of my degrees, I could not do what she did, and I was propelled to learn how she did it. She nailed me exactly in 90 minutes, and I am blessed forever to have learned her wisdom and craft.

Thank you, Elayne.
