ICAE is a clearinghouse. We want to enable astrology educators from every tradition to work together to develop common astrological competencies that students can achieve through self-study, individual instruction, and/or formal programs.

The biggest challenge for astrological education today is in fostering core competencies across the depth and breadth of our astrological traditions. Membership organizations have imposed tests that focus on specific perspectives. But teachers have not come together to discover or design their own common ground. We want astrologers from around the world to help us develop a collective understanding of the types of competencies needed within astrological education. The best way to do this is to ask.

Surveys and Results

Our surveys will help develop strategies to answer the following questions.

  • What do the majority of educators feel is critical for quality astrological education?
  • How effectively can our students move between teachers or institutions?
  • What tools can we use to confirm that our students have learned what we hoped to teach?

2025 Introductory Survey Results
Our brief introductory survey was sent to a limited number of astrology teachers to gauge potential interest in the services ICAE could provide. It will be interesting to see what changes when we have a larger response. The results were as follows:

  1. Do you own your own astrology school? 67% responded yes
  2. In the past 12 months, where have you taught classes?
    33% privately
    67% teach in their own school
    58% teach in someone else’s astrology school
    8% in an academic setting
    42% teach somewhere else.
