Competency implies an observable, demonstrable performance. It answers the question: What can this practitioner do? In other words, what is their capability as opposed to what they know or what educational pathway have they completed?  Astrology educators use a variety of tools to assess competency in using a particular technique, understanding historical context, or interpreting a client’s chart. Within a professional framework, demonstrating competency is not merely a “nice-to-have” attribute; it is evidence of success in our educational and practice goals.
