We are sorry to say goodbye to Inge Lohse, one of our founders, in November 2024.

Inge was a teacher and lecturer. She studied astrology beginning in 1974. Inge had an Aquarian Sun with an investigative Scorpio Ascendant. Mars and Mercury in Capricorn; she enjoyed researching the practical applications of astrology. Inge was also a pilot, so finding a reliable source of travel information and accurate weather forecasts became necessary. Astrology was the perfect tool to use in her quest. This research developed into her book Astrology for the Traveler – Trip Charts, which she co-authored with Liz Swoboda. Inge was a founding member of the EAS, (Edmonton Astrological Society) since its inception in 1977. She served on its executive board for almost 50 years.

A message from Inge on her desire to promote competency-based astrological education

As a successful entrepreneur, I spent most of my life working in the corporate world, specifically the manufacturing industry. Standards are not only required to produce a marketable product or service but also a necessity. There are municipal, provincial, national, and international standards. Without a standards certification seal of compliance, your product or service will not be eligible for the marketplace by any country in the world.   Astrology is taught globally, but there are few standards of competency to follow. Education is how we learn to develop the skills required to become proficient in our chosen profession, and schools worldwide adhere to specific standards of compliance to achieve that end. Astrology Schools do not – yet. ICAE will fill that void
